Thoughts on Iran

Have you seen what is happening in Iran? If you have not, you might be living under a rock, or perhaps in your defense you do not twitter and do not watch YouTube videos. So, I will brief you.  On June 12, 2009, Iran had its presidential election. While millions of people supported Mir-Hossein Mousavi, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared not only the winner, but it was claimed he won with 66% of the votes. Although the votes were hand counted, the results were reported within an hour or two after the election polls closed. Not surprisingly, millions of Iranians called foul.

They took to the streets. With peaceful protest, they took to the streets only to be beaten, but not beaten down. Their property in Iran is being destroyed. All computers found, destroyed. Satellite dishes, destroyed. Buildings, cars, destroyed. The people’s spirit, not destroyed! They are being shot at, beaten, kicked, punched, dragged through the streets, but they are determined. They must know they have crossed a line of no return. Surely, if they quit now, it will all have been in vain. Therefore, they continue day and night. By day, they walk in silent protest, seas of green. By night, they call from their balconies for freedom.

The Iranian government is reporting no such protests on their television. They are lying to the world. Using Twitter, millions of Iranians are speaking to the world. They are sending out messages, they are sending out video. They need the world’s support.

There are many countries today being ruled by ruthless dictators. No American should ever support any country ruled by a dictator. Free speech is a birth right. Freedom is a birth right. All the world needs to take notice. People will only be pushed so far and then they will fight back. Until all evil rulers in the world realize that freedom and liberty is a birth right for all, white, black, red, yellow, brown, male, female, young, old, Christian, Protestant, Catholic, Jew, Hindu, Islamic, atheiest, agnostic, whatever. All have the right to liberty and freedom.

While the world watches, those in Iran are fighting for their lives at this point. No longer for a new election only, it has become the fight of their lives and we cannot fail them. Many are helping in any way they can, spreading the word, spreading the pictures, the videos, the messages. God Bless Us Everyone! To those in Iran and anywhere in the world fighting for their freedom, stand strong, stay the course and you will be successful for freedom knows no bounds!

If the world’s governments would speak loudly, Iran’s dictators would be forced to listen. The world will no longer tolerate dictators. This should resonate to North Korea, China, Darfur, Venezuela, Russia, and any part of the world where people are being oppressed and denied their voice, their freedom, their liberty! Also, here in America, people will not tolerate government interference growing bigger and more obtrusive in our lives every day. We are supposed to be the example of freedom and we must keep it that way. Government cannot solve your problems and make you happy. You need to solve your problems yourselves. Once you invite government to solve your problems, you end up with a dictatorship!

More than global warming, more than any other problem put in our paths, the world must unite first and foremost that all peoples have the right to be free!
