I am watching the View again. I am not sure why, because this show makes me so angry sometimes. It is so predictable what will come out of Joy Behar’s mouth. Not so predictable the others, but Joy is very predictable. Elizabeth can be predictable sometimes as well. Whoopi is probably the most independent thinker of the group.
But anyway, this morning they were talking about Iran. Now I have been on Twitter in #IranElection for a week now. I am been watching, reading all the updates, the green briefs, seeing all the videos, and I have come to this conclusion. The people in Iran need the world’s help. This is not just about an election any longer, if it ever was. This is about change. This is about freedom.
Joy Behar saying that Iran didn’t meddle in our election Gore vs Bush is the most ridiculous excuse for not helping people being murdered by their government that I have ever heard. It is nonsense. In this country, we do not have government agents shooting us because we disagree. There was a shooting at a protest once, Ohio State in the 60s, does Joy remember that? Was it okay for the government to shoot demonstrators who were unarmed? Apparently to Joy’s way of thinking it was.
Should be bomb Iran? Of course not. But we should be doing all we can to help. Who cares if some might point their fingers at us and say we are trying to install a puppet government. We know we are not. We don’t want to take over Iran. That is Iran government propaganda.
How can we condone constantly ignoring horrific crimes being comitted by governments against their own people? Iran, Darfur, China, North Korea, the Congo, Venezuela, the list is endless. Can we fight the world? I don’t think so. But, the good people in the world can fight the bad people in the world and should never stop.
Again, Hitler took Poland without firing a single shot because people didn’t want to meddle, didn’t want to get involved. After 911, many countries helped us with intelligence, tracking down terrorists, etc.
Reagan stood up with Solidarity. Read the letter from Mr. Walesa. He was amazed and emboldened by President Reagan’s stand, his willingness to risk all for Poland’s Solidarity movement, for the destruction of the Berlin Wall.
I challenge Joy Behar to think if she would think we are handling the Iran situation properly if George Bush were still the president. I am willing to bet all I have that she would not. Whether you like Obama or not, you have to look beyond that. We need to do more for Iran. We need to do more for Darfur, for all the people fighting for the freedom. We don’t take over their fight, we help them.
There are plenty of ways to help. Lots of people have set up Tor’s, Proxies, etc., to help the people get their message out. A student from Iran said all countries should stop gasoline shipments to Iran, this would cripple their government. We could be helping them with ways to get at the government without getting hurt, etc. There are lots of ways. Mousavi has called for a sea of green around the world. We could do that. It is simple. We cannot let the students down. We absolutely cannot say to them that they have to live in suppression for the rest of their lives when they are literally dying to be free. We absolutely cannot! We must stand behind them. The time is now! We must stand behind any people fighting for their freedom. We have no right to enjoy freedom in this country if we do not help others attain their freedom!
