In Obama’s speech in Cairo, he mentions that the US government has fought to give Islamic women the right to wear their head scarves. What about their right not to wear them? America does not fight for that. Islam is a religion in which women have no say. They have no voice. They have no voice in their religious beliefs, their governments, their own lives. They have no voice in who they marry, what they wear, if they can receive an education or not. In fact, Islam’s rights for women is abominable. How then can he stand up and say with pride that Islam is so great, that their historical achievements are so great, when women have been cut out of the whole thing? And, they have no move to change this in the foreseeable future. Until there is talk of women being treated equally in Islam, I for one have no desire to engage in discussions. Where are the women in the audience of his speech? I see none. Women once again are having their lives decided by men, by Obama, and the men of Islam. And so, Obama gets it wrong again.
