California’s Woes

Time magazine is blaming California’s demise on Proposition 13. Actually, Proposition 13 is what has kept anyone being able to afford to live in California all these years. No doubt their property taxes would have hit the moon long ago were it not for Proposition 13. California’s problems lies in the fact that is has been a nanny state for way too long. Billions is paid out every year to people who do not work, illegal aliens not paying taxes, welfare, the miriad of other social programs California has spent a fortune on over the years. It is not the government’s job to provide for the people. People are supposed to provide for themselves.

When I lived in California a news agency was investigating Worker’s Comp. fraud. It was astronomical. People actually stood in front of unemployment offices handing out flyers about ways to circumvent the system and get on the dole. Doctors were set in place to claim back injuries, people claimed inability to work and California paid them big bucks for it. California pays alcoholics to stay alcoholics. Instead of making alcoholics go through rehab and get better, they just pay them. California pays everyone. It is no wonder they are broke.

People don’t just head to California for the weather. They head there to get on the “free train ride” that California has been giving them for years. Now they are finding out the train ride isn’t free. Government cannot continually raise taxes to spend money on programs it deems necessary. People need to get it through their heads. They are responsible for their livelihoods, not the government. It is not the government’s job to provide all the necessities of life to those not willing to work for it.

I lived in California most of my life. Then, my home was overrun with people looking for handouts. Developers run amok. Before you knew it, there was no place to go in California where millions were not there already. I had to leave. I feel I was forced out. I am still resentful of the way California was destroyed. I was there during the riots. Do you know why the riots really stopped? They stopped when the post office announced it would not deliver mail. They were not willing to risk their lives delivering mail while people had gone mad. That meant - you guessed it - no checks. Amazing how quickly the rioting stopped when people realized they were not getting their checks. I saw thousands and thousands of people standing in lines to get their checks, people who looked perfectly healthy and able to work to me.

The liberals who have held California in a death grip all these years now have to finally wake up and realize they cannot keep spending, spending, spending withou facing the consequences. Well, those consequences are banging down the door now. As goes California, so goes the rest of the nation - a saying that has been around a long time. Hello!! These are the consequences that will soon be banging down the door of America. The nanny state we are creating in the United States today is going to someday lead us to bankruptcy. This will lead to the demise of a great nation if we do nothing to stop it.
