After a week of watching horrific scenes coming out of Iran, where the people are fighting to the death for freedom, it amazes and baffles me still how here in America where are giving up our freedoms every day voluntarily. The people of Iran were once mesmerized by their holy clerics, so much so that they overthrew their government, not just once. Here in America, people have been mesmerized by Barack Obama. Even in the face of insurmountable horror as in the dying on the streets of a young girl Neda, Barack sits on the sidelines.
The first clue that Barack was a sideline sitter was while he was in the senate and he voted “present” many times, not wanting to make a committment. We have had a parade of pundits, I call them kool-aid drinkers, who have come forth repeating that he is doing the right thing. Hah! While he is enjoying his ice cream, his golf game, his father’s day, a father in Iran is mourning the loss of his young beautiful daughter shot down by a sniper of the government for no reason whatsoever. She was not armed, she was not threatening, she was murdered while we sit on the sidelines. We don’t want to meddle! Yes, no one wanted to meddle while Hitler slaughtered millions of Jews and others either.
Yes, the world has gotten quite good at not meddling and now they have Barack to lead the charge. Darfur, people are being raped, beaten, tortured, dying and of course we are not meddling. Who will meddle then? I will tell you who. Ordinary citizens all over the world using Twitter and other social networks on the Internet to “meddle,” i.e., help save lives, help people fight for liberty and freedom by setting up proxies, giving information, sending information, and doing all they can from their living rooms to help - not meddle - HELP!
While the Iranian government is murdering its own people, their state run television is showing movies, sporting events, basically junk. Their state run news is lying to the people, claiming they are not murdering, not raiding people’s homes and dragging people off to prison, not beating people, not destroying property, it is all the protestors doing it. But alas, thanks to those ordinary citizens the truth is getting out. The videos, the pictures, the horror.
Which brings me to the title of this article. ABC’s voluntary suppression. In a country where we have the right to free speech, freedom of the press, amongst other freedoms and inalienable rights, we have news agency after news agency in the tank!! While ABC plans to air Obama’s health care “plan” to try and pursuade America how great it is, they are refusing to allow any dissenting opinions, even paid ones. Amazing! Lie to the people yet again. Do not let the people choose, do not let them make up their own minds. So called transparency? Obama’s popularity is slipping in the polls, I suspect due in part to his lack of leadership skills so blatantly exposed during this crisis. I imagine ABC’s will begin to follow, at least I hope they do. Yes, I said that, I hope ABC fails! I also hope MSNBC and the New York Times fail. Because they just don’t get it. I don’t care what they think of the president’s plans, they have no right to force the people to agree with them by not reporting the facts, not reporting all sides.
By the way, I will report some of what ABC and the president are trying to cover up. They are talking of taxing health care benefits. Hmmm, now where did I hear that one before. Oh yes, McCain’s plan, but he was also giving a credit. Obama’s plan - no credit, just higher taxes. Yes, higher taxes, you know, those things he claimed we would not see. And what is his plan? Not saying. That’s right, they are not saying. They will not say either. They will go on ABC and lie. Campaign promises lost again. Are we to continue to accept this? Do we continue to vote for he/she who tells the best lies during their campaign? And when do we in America demand the truth from our news agencies? Reporter - journalist - one who reports the facts!!!! ABC, MSNBC, the New York Times - need to hire some of those. And Fox News, the ones who do report the truth, of course they are the ones Obama keeps attacking. Are you beginning to see the picture???
